Early Learning Educators Bonus and Grant Program

The last day to upload documentation for the ARPA Workforce Grants and Bonuses is July 14, 2023.

Applications are now closed for

The Division of Early Learning is investing a portion of its American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars in the Build a World Class Workforce Grants. Funds are being offered through multiple bonus and grant opportunities to recruit and elevate a world class early learning workforce.

Bonuses and Grants available

Recruitment Bonus (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: $500

Application Deadline: 6/30/2023

Who is eligible: Early learning educators and directors

• Must be hired on or after July 1, 2022

Requirements:

• Provide documentation of 120 hours of employment and background screening

Health and Safety Bonus (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: $700

Application Deadline: 6/30/2023

Who is eligible: Early learning educators and directors

• Must be hired on or after July 1, 2022

Requirements:

• Provide proof that the Health and Safety course was completed after July 1, 2022

CLASS® Bonus (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: $600

Application Deadline: 4/30/2023 - applications are closed.

Certificates must be submitted by 6/30/2023

Who is eligible: Early learning educators and directors

Requirements: Must complete 23.5 hours of CLASS® Foundations for Teachers and MyTeachstone Learn Abouts for either Infant/Toddler or PreK.

Upskill Director Bonus (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: $750

Application Deadline: 4/30/2023 - applications are closed.

Certificates must be submitted by 6/30/2023

Who is eligible: Early learning directors

Requirements:

• Must sign up and complete 29 hours of CLASS® foundational content (must select Track A or Track B)
• Courses must be completed by 6/30/2023

NOTE: Early learning directors employed by early care and education partners participating in the Child Success Grants are NOT ELIGIBLE for this bonus.

Child Success Grants (Download flyer with more details)

Amount:

• Segment 1- educators will receive $500 and directors will receive $600
• Segment 2 - educators will receive $700 and directors will receive $800

Application Deadline: 4/30/2023 - applications are closed.

Who is eligible: Early learning educators and directors

• Must have School Readiness or Voluntary Prekindergarten contract
• CLASS® composite score below a 5 or no CLASS® score

NOTE: All educators and directors who apply must complete Segment 1 and/or Segment 2 together in order to receive the bonus.

Requirements:

• Each segment is at least 24 hours of adult-child interaction training
• Certificates must be submitted by 6/30/2023

Performance Bonus

Early learning educators and directors who complete the Child Success Grant are eligible for a Performance Bonus if the early care and education partner achieves a CLASS® composite score of 5 or higher or where the CLASS® composite score improves by 0.5 or more on its next scheduled annual assessment.

• Amount: Educators will receive $500 and directors will receive $600.

NOTE: Directors applying for Child Success Grants are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for Upskill Director Grants.

Child Success Grants - CLASS® Observer Director Training Grant (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: $1,200

Application Deadline: 4/30/2023 - applications are closed.

Who is eligible: Early learning directors

• Must have a School Readiness or Voluntary Prekindergarten contract
• CLASS® composite score below a 5 or no CLASS® score

Requirements:

• Director must complete CLASS® Prekindergarten, Infant or Toddler Observer trainings (14 hour in-person training)
• Courses must be completed by 6/30/2023

NOTE: Directors applying for Child Success Grants are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for Upskill Director Grants.

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) (Download flyer with more details)

Amount: Up to $19,800

Application Deadline: 4/30/2023 - applications are closed.

Who is eligible: Early care and education partners

• Must have a School Readiness or Voluntary Prekindergarten contract
• CLASS® composite score of 5 or higher

Requirements:

• Partners must develop a plan that includes a minimum of 24 hours of training to strengthen practices that support effective interactions, strengthen business and leadership practices, support child assessment and screening with reliability, or other local priorities.
• The director must participate in the training along with staff
• Program must be completed by 6/30/2023
