Emergency Food Distribution & Food Pantries
March 24, 2020
The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with emergency food assistance at no cost. Through TEFAP, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) purchases a variety of nutritious, high-quality USDA Foods, and makes those foods available to State Distributing Agencies.
Farm Share serves as Florida Distributing Agency. Farm Share is a non-profit organization that works daily to make sure that food-insecure Floridians receive the food and support they need.
To accomplish this task, Farm Share partners with more than 2,000 food pantries, churches, schools, and other nonprofits throughout Florida to distribute food every single day.
