Early education. Lifelong success.

Letter from our President

Dear Friends,

The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe has refreshed our brand and identity, rolling out a new logo, web site and other materials to better inform our partners and clients of our services, as well as all the latest news and events around the agency. Our look may have changed, but our commitment to creating lifelong success through early care and education remains the same.

With the 2007-2008 school year in full swing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our providers, staff, supporters and community partners for their hard work and dedication. The quality of early care and education has been greatly improved, and our community's children are better prepared to enter school than they have ever been.

The Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe is the largest provider of early care and education in the state of Florida, supporting the school readiness of more than 50,000 children, age birth to 12 years old, through a variety of innovative pre-kindergarten and early learning programs, while also mentoring their families on the importance of family support in the quest for educational success.

Among our collective accomplishments so far this year, please count the following:

  • Our Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) enrollment numbers are on the increase thanks, in part, to a strong outreach and awareness campaign.
  • We have seen a significant increase in the number of providers certified to provide VPK in both Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
  • Quality improvement programs are underway
  • Staff members continue their visits to early care and education providers; so far they have met with over 200 providers and center directors.

As you can see, our accomplishments are significant, and we look forward to similar success in the next year.

Enjoy the new web site and materials, and, as always, thank you for your ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Evelio C. Torres, President & CEO
